Havre de Grace Arts Collective

General Background information

Mission:
To build community and stimulate economic vitality through the arts by providing quality entertainment that engages and attracts audiences; offering educational opportunities which nurture learning and creativity; and encouraging synergism among performing, cultural and visual arts groups.
The Havre de Grace Arts Collective (Arts Collective) is a 501(c)(3) organization created to address the cultural and economic needs of Havre de Grace and the surrounding region, including oversight of the Cultural Center at the Opera House (Opera House), Arts and Entertainment (A&E) District, and the Arts by the Bay Gallery.

The Arts Collective has several goals. First, it will bring local, regional and national high caliber performances to the Opera House, a 201-seat venue that will capture audiences traveling from Philadelphia, Lancaster and the Baltimore/Washington areas (a 100-mile radius).   The Opera House will attract performers and audiences to the area by leveraging its proximity to I-95 and the New York and Washington areas.

Second, the Arts Collective maintains the A&E District program of the State of Maryland, offering tax incentives and credits to attract artists to work, play and live in Havre de Grace thus stimulating economic growth in Havre de Grace and the surrounding area. Since the Opera House is located within the A&E District, the A&E benefits provide an additional incentive to artists to perform in the new facility.

Third, the Arts Collective serves as the umbrella organization for the Arts by the Bay Gallery, a cooperative gallery providing space to local and regional artists as well as providing arts education.

Lastly, the Arts Collective, as the name implies, provides a creative outlet for the extremely talented individuals in Harford County while enhancing the cultural offerings within the County.   The Arts Collective is the catalyst connecting the people and talent within a viable business structure.  It begins in 2017 and will continue for generations for come.
