The City Council meets in public session the first and third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. except for legal holidays. These meetings are regularly aired on the Harford Cable Network (HCN). The purpose of this public meeting is to conduct City business by the passage of legislation.
The Mayor and each of the six members of the City Council serve a two-year term with a staggered election cycle thus affording an election every year. The members of the City Council elect the City Council President at large.
Participation by the public is essential to good government. The City encourages input and comments from the public. During each Council meeting, citizens are encouraged to speak to the Mayor and City Council, under Citizen's comments. A speaker's form must be completed and submitted prior to 7:45 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
The Mayor and City Council also encourages City residents to exercise their right to vote in all elections. If you need information on your elected officials, voting locations or need to register to vote http:/www.co.ha.md.us/Elections.
