Wayne H. Dougherty

Wayne moved to Havre de Grace in 1961 when his dad was transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Wayne is married to the former Mary Marini and they have a son, Joseph, and daughter, Maria who is married to J.W. Walker, Jr. Wayne graduated from Havre de Grace High School and has a degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Banking Degree from the American Institute of Banking. Wayne has been involved in his community and has served on many Boards and Commissions.

Wayne's commitment to the City of Havre de Grace has been continuous for many years and he takes the position of Mayor of Havre de Grace as a full time job. Wayne supports the many businesses in our City and is always available to help citizens when called upon to do so. Wayne seeks no credit for being a citizen who endeavors to make and provide a better quality of life for all who live and visit our City. Wayne has pride in the City he lives in and supports and actively participates in cultural awareness and sensitivity programs to promote a harmonious relationship between all citizens in our City.

Wayne's vision is simple: "A safe community for all our citizens and visitors to our City. Protect and promote our history with the implementation of zoning laws which will protect our historic structures and a strong Economic Development Plan which will benefit all citizens and our local businesses and merchants."

COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Randolph Emerson Craig

"Randy" was born and raised in Havre de Grace. As a youth he was involved in local sports and many community organizations. As a local boy scout, Randy achieved the level of Eagle Scout. Randy learned the importance of public service at an early age, as exampled by his father and grandfather who have both held elected positions.

After graduation from Havre de Grace High School, Randy served in the U.S. Navy. While a young sailor with a homeport in California, Randy met his future wife, Jessica. Following their marriage they returned to Maryland where she attended law school and he attended the University of Maryland.

Randy is employed as a Senior Project Manager for Erickson Construction. He is responsible for the management of multi-million dollar construction projects. Jessica recently left her position as an Assistant Public Defender in Harford County to stay at home to care for their young children. Randy and Jessica have been married for nine years and have three children. The Craig family lives on Ontario Street where they are renovating a Victorian style home. They attend the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, where Randy serves on the Board of Trustees.

"For our present and future citizens, I will make certain that city government acts in an ethical and responsible manner and with a forward-looking vision that creates long-lasting value. I pledge to serve our community honestly and to humbly do what is right."

CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
Fred Cullum

Fred and his wife, Kathy, have been residents of Havre de Grace since 1968. At the end of 2006, Fred retired as a Battalion Chief from the Aberdeen Proving ground Fire Department.

Fred previously served as a member of the City Council for six consecutive terms beginning in 1995. During that period he served three times as Council President. In the 2007 election, he did not seek re-election to the council. In May of 2008, Fred was once again elected to the Council and also was chosen to serve as Council President. Fred's interest in the City Council began in the late sixties and early seventies when, as a small business owner in the City, he began attending the meetings regularly. Serving the citizens of Havre de Grace, has been a way of life for Fred, since 1969, when he first joined the Susquehanna Hose Company. He continues to be an active member and officer.

During the previous twelve years that Fred served on the Council he was active in the Maryland Municipal League, where he attended the summer convention as well as the Fall Conference of the League each year. He also served on the MML Legislative Committee for several years and served on the Board of Directors.

"My goal, as a member of the City Council, is to keep Havre de Grace the great place to Live, Work and Visit that it is today, by making good Common Sense Decisions that are Fair and Equal to all and in the best interest of our City and our citizens."

CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
William T. Martin

Bill Martin has been a resident of Havre de Grace since 1992, following his parents' relocation to the area as they expanded their antique postcard business. He graduated with a B.A. in U.S. History and Secondary Education from Salisbury State University in 1997. Bill continued his studies with a Master's of Science degree in Education (2005) and 30 plus graduate credits in Education (2007) through Walden University. Bill has used this education in his daily life as an 8th grade U.S. History teacher at Aberdeen Middle School, where he has taught for the past ten years. Bill has continually asserted his leadership as an educator, receiving accolades as his school's "Most Innovative Teacher" (2004), and Boys and Girls Club Teacher of the Year (2005).

Bill served as a board member for the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House, and later took on the position of Treasurer, which he held for several years. For the past several years, Bill (along with some friends and family members) has been responsible for the creation and placement of 1300 luminaries along the streets of Havre de Grace for the annual Candlelight Tour of Homes. Bill is also a member of Susquehanna Lodge #130 of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Finally, Bill serves as the captain of his hockey team, The Moose, who play weekly in Abingdon.

Bill married his wife, Taryn, in true Havre de Grace style, with a ceremony at Concord Point Lighthouse and a reception at the beautiful Vandiver Inn in downtown Havre de Grace. The couple has three children: Devon, Molly and Will. Devon attends Meadowvale Elementary School. Bill is an active parent participant with Devon in Cub Scout Pack 965, as well as Havre de Grace Rec Soccer and Lacrosse.

"My vision is for Havre de Grace to remain a great place to raise my kids. That it is the type of community that is safe, healthy, financially sound, and civically minded. I will work my hardest to preserve these values for our city. And I would hope that as we look towards the promise of the future, we will keep a watchful eye on our treasured past."

CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
James P. Miller

"Jim" was previously appointed to the Havre de Grace City Council and has served on the Planning Commission, the Street Safety Committee, the Board of Appeals, and the Housing Authority. Currently, he is serving on the Planning Committee. He is an active member of the Susquehanna Hose Company and has held various elected positions. Jim attended Harford Community College and completed several classes from the University of Maryland. He is currently employed as a Physical Science Technician at Aberdeen Proving Ground for the Army's 22nd Chemical Command. He served in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom and in Iraq as part of the Iraq Survey Group. He is a member of the Son's of the American Legion - Joesph L. Davis Post #47, the Knights of Columbus - Havre de Grace Council #2002, and Saint Patrick's Church. Jim has been a resident of Havre de Grace his entire life along with his daughter, Terran Miller.

CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
Mitch Shank

Mitch was born and raised in Havre de Grace and currently lives with his wife, Jessica. They have been married for 26 years and have two children, Catherine "Michi" graduating #1 in the class of 2009 and Drew who is completing his freshman year at Havre de Grace High School. Mitch is involved with Board of Director of Havre de Grace Decoy Museum, Board of Director of Susquehanna Museum at The Lockhouse, Board of Director of HdG Main Street and Chairman of The Arts and Entertainment Committee and active with R. Madison Mitchell Endowment Trust, Inc. Mitch is an active member of The Havre de Grace United Methodist Church and volunteers every Thursday morning at The HdG Community Activities Center working with adults from ARC. Mitch is excited about working and serving the citizens of our town by continuing to improve the quality of life for all citizens and working to reduce the burden of high property taxes. Mitch will be performing his council duties on a full-time basis and is available to citizens at their convenience.

CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
Brenda Dorr Guldenzopf

Brenda and her family fell in love with Havre de Grace and decided to make it their home in 1999. "Havre de Grace was everything we were looking for - good quality of life, safe community, good school system, natural beauty, a sense of history, museums, and abundant recreation opportunities." Brenda earned her undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Archeology from the University of Connecticut and completed her master's degree study in Museum Science from the University of Toronto. She has been professionally employed in both archeology and museum work in Connecticut, New Mexico, Maryland, Ontario and Scotland. Brenda's professional life has been dedicated to working with communities to preserve their history and identity and tell their story. In Havre de Grace, she has worked both as Curator of the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum and currently as Executive Director of the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum to document and preserve our unique heritage and to interpret this rich legacy for today's as well as for future generations.

Brenda has been actively involved in our community in other ways as a member of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church and as a mother of two active girls in Havre de Grace Public Schools and Harford County Parks and Recreation. As a member of Soroptomist International of Havre de Grace, she has helped to improve the welfare of women and girls in our community. As a member of the Havre de Grace Heritage Corridor Committee and Museum Alliance, Brenda has worked to increase efforts to improve the natural and cultural heritage of our city. Presently she also serves as a Board member of the Harford Community Action Agency which helps to provide critical resources to those in need within Harford County.

Brenda serves on three Council committees -Planning, Parks and Harbor, and Public Safety and is a council liaison to the Tourism Advisory Board, Appearance and Beautification Committee and Ethics Board. She also serves as Chair of the Comprehensive Zoning Review Committee. Brenda brings a fresh perspective, professional experience and integrity to city government. While she has been already serving Havre de Grace for the last decade as a community advocate through her work in the nonprofit sector to preserve our heritage and educate the public, she now extends her energies and efforts to improve and enhance the social and economic conditions of all citizens of Havre de Grace.

"I am committed to improving the lives of Havre de Grace citizens by providing quality services and carefully planning solutions for our community challenges. Specifically I will provide hands-on leadership in city government and encourage fiscal responsibility while improving effective services and programs."
