The City of Havre de Grace is currently accepting applications for entry level police officers (uncertified) and also applications for lateral certified officers.
Applicants who are applying for the entry level positions, must be at least 21 years of age upon completion of the police training academy; must be a citizen of the United States; must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate; must possess a valid Class D or C non-commercial driver’s license with no more than 3 points, and must have a relatively clean driving record with no DUI or DWI convictions to include Probation Before Judgment. As an entry level employee of the Havre de Grace Police Department, incumbent must attend and successfully complete an entire entrance level police academy program certified by the Maryland Police Correctional Training Commission and must comply with all training academy rules, regulations, policies and procedures while in the program. Applicants must be of good moral character with no felony arrests or misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, domestic violence, perjury or false statements.
As lateral certified police officers, applicants must successfully pass the minimum standards required by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission and have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a certified police officer.
The starting salary for an entry level officer is $38,272.00 annually plus full benefits. Starting salary for a lateral certified officer is $40,955.20 plus full benefits. Applications are available at City Hall, 711 Pennington Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD.
