Target Audience
The Havre de Grace Office of Tourism's target audience is comprised of adult 35-64, household income 60K+, well-educated and working in managerial and professional occupations. They are making trips of more than one day's duration within the United States in the past 12 months including business, vacation, weekend travel and short trips. Over the past 5 years, the top out of state, 4 origins for Maryland Visitors have been from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia. (Source: The MD Office of Tourism Development) A recreation industry already exists in the Corridor.
Traveler Patterns and Festival Attendance
With over 8 million person trips, the average Baltimore visitor travels in pairs and stays an average of 1.7 nights. Their average trips expenditure is $338 dollars. Their top 5 activities include: Dining, city/urban sightseeing, entertainment, shopping, museum/art exhibits. Attendance at festivals and other City events total over 150,000 each year. In 2008, the attendance at the Havre de Grace Arts and Crafts Festival, Havre de Grace Seafood Festival, Decoy Festival, July 4th celebration and Graw Days exceeded 100,000 people. The McDonald's LPGA Championship alone generates over 90,000 spectators a year.
Attractions and Amenities
In addition to six City parks, boat slips are improved upon and have been upgraded with full water and electricity in Havre de Grace, five boat launching ramps, a sailing school and limited watercraft rentals. Within a ten-mile radius, there are six golf public/private courses; including the Bulle Rock Golf Course, a top-rated Pete Dye design golf course in Havre de Grace. Through the Office of Tourism we can promote the City's assets to help increase patronage of the many shops, stores, restaurants and museums in the City.

- Heads of household of Maryland travelers are 50 years on average
- 71% of heads of households of Maryland travelers are employed fulltime, while 15% are retired. Almost 1/3 are employed in managerial and professional occupations
- 52% of Maryland travelers report a household income of $75,000 or more. The average annual household income of the MD traveler is $82,780, compared to an average of $69,090 for U.S. traveler
- Heads of households of travelers to MD are well educated, with 41% having completed college, compared to the national average of 37%.
- In 2006, 68% of the travelers to Maryland were married and 30% had at least one child living at home.
