Meghan McDonough, Manager of Economic Development
Additional Updates will be forthcoming.

The mission of the Office of Economic Development is to increase the City's tax base by assisting businesses with job creation, expansion and retention through service and incentive programs offered at the City, County and State level. Fostering private and public partnerships will enhance the economy and improve the overall quality of life in The City of Havre de Grace.

"Economic development can be defined as a program, group of policies, or activity that seeks to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for a community by creating and/or retaining jobs that facilitate growth and provide a stable tax base." (International Economic Development Council, January 2006).

There is no perfect definition to define the quality of life. Quality of life is unique to each individual and based on their personal needs. A community that is friendly, safe, has plenty of open space, great educational facilities, affordable housing, medical resources and job opportunities equals a great place to live and precisely describes The City of Havre de Grace.
Havre de Grace with its many parks, easy access to the waterfront, marinas, five museums located within walking distance from one another, and a very walkable historic downtown complete with boutiques, antiques, art and restaurants sets the stage. Add the many events throughout the year that offer residents and tourists alike an enjoyable evening, day or weekend and you're hooked!
Our many churches and volunteer organizations add the personal dimension that allows each of us to affect our community in a variety of positive ways. There are many service organizations as well as a Chamber of Commerce and Main Street program.
Several major employers are located in the area and the addition of BRAC opportunities, local business developments and small/home businesses add more possibilities for employment. Our unique easy access to Route 40 and I-95 give easy access to neighboring communities and connect to...well...everything!
