    Police Department:

    • Citizens please lock your vehicles and bring your valuables inside. There has been a recent rash of vehicle break-ins.

    • The first week of safety camp has concluded. Click here to watch video highlights

    • Reminder on the extremely hot days the library is a cooling station.

    • In the summer, we see more bicycle thefts so please use a lock. Also take photos of your bike and serial number to have for your records.

    Department of Public Works:

    • The Department has seen an INCREASE in Recycling by the residents of the City!  The one challenge our contractor Waste Industries is having is the cans are not clearly marked.  We urge everyone to mark your container in any one of the following ways:

    • BGE will continue working around the City replacing the gas mains and gas services.  Expect road closures in some cases.

    Division of Stormwater Management:

    • GIS-Based Mapping System – Stormwater Management continues to have the infrastructure mapped for better control and maintenance of the stormwater drainage system.  Nearly all the features have been mapped and inspected and the system simplifies the reporting/maintenance process by ensuring the features are maintained/serviced as needed within a viable schedule.

    • If anyone notices someone dumping into a storm drain please notify City Hall at 410-939-1800, ext. 1128.  Anything going into the drains except for stormwater is illicit.

    •  When periods of heavy rain occur be assured  Emergency Responders and Public Works are cognizant of flooding issues and will address resulting hazards.

    Department of Planning:

    Department of Economic Development:

    • On Wednesday, July 19, 2017 Acting Director Erika Quesenbery met with the Havre de Grace Downtown Merchants Association at Coakley’s Pub and heard great details on the September Pyrex Fest by JoRetro, bigger and even better than the one held in April – details will be made public soon.

Information on promotional opportunities and activities as best practices from other areas across the country was shared with participating Downtown Merchants Association businesses at a recent meeting.

    • WHGM Radio Smash Hits has promoted Justin Mallow, the morning on-air personality, to operation’s management, and he presented information to the Association on the station moving into its new headquarters on Union Avenue.

    • The Department of Economic Development submitted five grant/loan assistance applications to Maryland Historic Trust for review for the facade and tenant fit out programs. More details on these programs are available at the Office of Economic Development in City Hall or by emailing Erika Quesenbery at erikaq@havredegracemd.com
