Police Department:

  • We are still accepting school supply donations until the beginning of the school year for the supply drive. Contact Cpl. Petz or PCO Kilgore at 410-939-2121 for further information.

  • Havre de Grace is a pedestrian friendly city! Look for pedestrians everywhere when driving. With the start of school approaching fast, stay focused and slow down where children may be present, like school zones and neighborhoods.

Department of Public Works:

  • The Camilla Street Water Main Rehabilitation RFP was advertised last Friday, 8/11.  There will be a pre bid meeting held 8/24/17 at 2:00 pm in City Hall.  The bid opening will be 8/31/17.

  • Paving – BGE will be partnering with City of Havre de Grace to pave the roadways disturbed by the Gas Line Replacement Project.

  • Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrades – old equipment has been removed.

  • K-9 Cody Park – a Little Free Library has been installed.

  • BULK collections – a suggestion to reducing the amount of items going to the landfill – consider contacting Purple Heart, take to Goodwill, donate to Habitat’s ReStore.

DPW – Division of Stormwater Management:

  • GIS-Based Mapping System – IT has loaded infrastructure into Beehive for better control and maintenance of the stormwater drainage system.  This system will be crucial to our reporting parameters as required by Maryland Department of the Environment.

  • The Division is preparing to send in proposals for a couple grant funding opportunities  for stormwater management following release of the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s request for proposal postings opening the grants.

  • The Green Team is looking into grant funding to install a Victory Garden on City property downtown along with an heirloom grape arbor restoration.  The Community Gardens help the City with stormwater management as rain barrels will be involved along with the right soil and vegetation for runoff handling.

  • If anyone notices someone dumping into a stormdrain please notify City Hall at 410-939-1800, ext. 1128.  Anything going into the drains except for stormwater is illicit.

Office of Tourism:

  • Grand opening week at the Cultural Center at the Opera House was a huge success!  Nearly every show was performed in front of a sold out audience.  Check out the show schedule for upcoming events and to purchase tickets.   hdgoperahouse.org

  • Tourism attended the Bel Air BBQ Bash promoting upcoming events in Havre de Grace.

  • We had 606 visitors to our Farmers Market on Saturday, August 12.
